RIVERSIDE — Riverside Poly’s Dennis Brown and San Bernardino San Gorgonio’s Ron Gueringer have each guided their programs to their best season in years in 2013.

Now, both coaches are being rewarded for their success. SPORT Clinic Director Jim Wynn announced on Wednesday that Brown and Gueringer have been selected as the head coaches for the 29th Riverside-San Bernardino County All-Star Game.

“I was surprised that I would be a candidate to coach the (All-Star) team,” Brown said, “so I took that as an honor and a privilege.”

The game, which pits the top senior football players from Riverside County against their peers from San Bernardino County, will take place on Jan.11, 2014 at Corona High School.

Brown, who will coach the Riverside County team, has led the Bears to a 7-2 overall record and second place in the Inland Valley League.

“I think it’s a credit to the kids,” Brown said. “It’s all about what they’ve done, not what I’ve done. I’m getting recognized for the hard work and effort that they’re putting in.”

Gueringer, who will coach the San Bernardino County squad, has led the Spartans to an 8-0 record and a No.1 ranking in the CIF-SS Eastern Division poll.

THE SPORT FOUNDATION “Follow the path that leads towards greatness”
Is a non-profit 501© (3) organization, established in 1986 to fill the sports medicine needs of the Inland Empire. By developing programs that provide accessible sports medicine, education and health care, we are dedicated to making a difference with the young athletes of the Inland Empire. Of the many goals the SPORT Foundation pursues, providing quality health care to children participating in sports is our primary concern. This is accomplished in many different ways, first, by establishing a sports medicine facility that is known and trusted in southern California. Staffed with the best sports professionals, the athletes, coaches and parents can feel confident with the care they receive. Since injuries happen on the playing field, coordinating medical coverage is also of great importance. Lastly, educating the professionals that care for the athletes ensures that the information that health care providers have is never outdated. We are proud of the SPORT Foundation and the programs we have developed. With your support and that of the community, we can continue to help athletes “follow the path that leads towards greatness.”
